Lady Ordered To Pay GH¢3,230 For Taking Transport Money Without Visiting Man

A trending video shows a Nigerian magistrate sentencing a young woman, Jennifer, after she allegedly duped a man of ₦30,000 (about GH¢215) meant for transport fare to his house.

The man, Emmanuel, gave her the money on the agreement that she would visit him, but she never showed up and reportedly spent the cash. Feeling cheated, Emmanuel dragged her to court.

After hearing the case, the magistrate ruled that Jennifer’s act was fraud by false pretense. The court ordered her to either pay a fine of ₦450,000 (about GH¢3,230) or spend seven years in prison.

A video from the courtroom captures Jennifer standing before the judge as the sentence was delivered.
